At first, the transition to distance learning was really weird to me. All of a sudden, school closed and I had to stay home instead of my daily walks to class. At first, I thought this was great that I didn't have to go to class anymore but it came with challenges that I didn't realize would come. I found it super difficult to concentrate at home rather than in a classroom environment. I remember feeling super bored since my daily routine of walking to school and classes was disrupted. It doesn't seem like a lot but I typically had a 30-40 minute walk to campus and then walking in between classes took up a couple of hours of my day. Moreover, I got a surge of new assignments from my teachers adding more since we were not going to class and it was very overwhelming. As a teacher, I would improve the experience of learning with clear communication, accessibility considerations to give people time to go through their assignments, and virtual office hours for any one that is co...

While working on the Web Design assignment using Weebly to create a free website for the class, I didn't encounter many new skills, except for embedding a Google Calendar into the website, which I found pretty cool due to its automatic updates. I appreciated the simplicity and efficiency of Weebly's platform. I didn't particularly dislike anything about the assignment; it was pretty straightforward. Although web design might not be directly applicable to my future career, I recognize the importance of being able to follow instructions and aligning tasks with given criteria, as demonstrated by following the rubric for this assignment. If I decide to pursue a career in teaching in the future, these skills could be useful for creating class websites to enhance student engagement and class organization.  Click HERE for link to my website. I regularly use AI tools in my daily routines as they significantly enhance productivity and efficiency. Ai helps me brainstorm initial ideas...

Teacher pages on school websites serve as crucial platforms for displaying essential information to students and parents. Leon High School offers detailed insights into course structures, syllabi, schedules, and contact information for teachers like Mr. Aley, who provides dedicated pages for Physics I Honors and AP Physics 1. While publicly accessible information includes overarching course outlines and supplementary resources, details such as individual grades and feedback often require login privileges, ensuring privacy and security. You can explore these informative resources on Leon High School's website here . To enhance professional responsibilities, it is important to use technology for efficiency and effectiveness in educational settings. I envision using various teacher productivity tools to make tasks easier and improve instructional delivery. Platforms like Canvas provide features for assignment management and communication channels, ensuring seamless interaction between...

My initial experiences with Diigo have been pretty good. I am still learning how exactly to use it but I like how that I can bookmark and see other peoples bookmarks for online resources. I like the social aspect of it; by being able to share bookmarks with your group it makes resource sharing more collaborative. One thing I do no like is how the UI is set up. It seems a little unorganized to me. I happen to like my experience with blogging. I enjoy the creative part of it and how I can express my thoughts, ideas, and experiences. Being able to regularly write my thoughts has helped me clarify my thoughts on some topics or things I wouldn't have necessarily thought about. At first, I didn't fully understand how to work it like the technical aspects but other than that it has been a good experience. I look forward better my blogging skills.  One interesting Web 2.0 tool that I've come across is Quizizz. One of my teachers in high school used this with our class and I kind ...

Using Instagram for my Personal Learning Network (PLN) has been super helpful. I've connected with a diverse community of individuals who are passionate about STEM, health, neuroscience, and psychology. Within these groups, there are a lot of discussions and resource-sharing, giving me access to tons of useful info and fresh perspectives. Chatting with experts and other learners has really broadened my knowledge base and stay updated on the latest developments in these fields. Also, the visual nature of Instagram allows for the efficient consumption of complex concepts through infographics, diagrams, and short videos. In terms of future career benefits, leveraging platforms like Twitter can further enhance my networking skills. Twitter's format is interesting since it has easily accessible information that is short and to the point. I can find a lot of information by following relevant accounts and hashtags that share tips, advice, and resources that are related to my field. T...

I selected grade levels 3-5 and chose the standard that focuses on data analysis. This standard emphasizes the importance of understanding how data is searched, organized, and utilized in everyday contexts. Specifically, students are expected to explain how searches can be enhanced using Boolean logic, identify examples of databases in daily life, collect and analyze data sets using appropriate technologies, and use databases or spreadsheets to organize and present data. With my background in statistics, I have a strong foundation in data analysis concepts, which will be advantageous in teaching students about this standard. My expertise can facilitate the explanation of complex statistical concepts in a way that is accessible and engaging for elementary-level students. Additionally, I can leverage real-world examples and applications of data analysis to make the content more relevant and meaningful to my students. My background will likely enhance my confidence in implementing thi...

As a teacher, u nderstanding copyright and fair use is important when developing instructional materials and guiding students in creating their own works. When developing instructional materials, I would use content that adheres to fair use guidelines respecting intellectual property. Guiding students on citing sources, using public domain materials, or obtaining proper permissions would be part of the learning process. It's important to balance respecting one's intellectual property while also creating adequate access to knowledge and creativity. Some lingering questions I have would be how to understand what areas aren't really clear to students so that I can properly educate them. When implementing technology in the classroom, one concern I have would be academic dishonesty. A solution to this issue could be implementing a type of plagiarism detection tool. As funny as it may sound, implementing such a tool could "scare" my students into being academically hon...
