Blog Journal #8
While working on the Web Design assignment using Weebly to create a free website for the class, I didn't encounter many new skills, except for embedding a Google Calendar into the website, which I found pretty cool due to its automatic updates. I appreciated the simplicity and efficiency of Weebly's platform. I didn't particularly dislike anything about the assignment; it was pretty straightforward. Although web design might not be directly applicable to my future career, I recognize the importance of being able to follow instructions and aligning tasks with given criteria, as demonstrated by following the rubric for this assignment. If I decide to pursue a career in teaching in the future, these skills could be useful for creating class websites to enhance student engagement and class organization. I regularly use AI tools in my daily routines as they significantly enhance productivity and efficiency. Ai helps me brainstorm initial ideas, draft emails, and help generate or give an overview of code. Even though AI is not always accurate, being able to get a different perspective on something helps the initial creativity boost to help me work. I am motivated to use AI tools because they have already become ingrained in modern day life, they are already integrated into platforms and services we use daily. Most social media platforms, search engines, and websites use AI to help the user find things better suited to them and their needs. I do acknowledge the need to be cautious of AI's exponential growth in our lives, I think that with responsible development and usage it has the potential to improve many aspects of our lives. The only question I could have are how AI is going to continue to change and shape our lives.
In my experience in using ChatGPT in class, I've found that it isn't always useful since it doesn't have all of the information that you get from the class resources. However, it can still be helpful for obtaining general information or answering broad questions on certain topics. My perception of AI hasn't drastically changed through using ChatGPT in class; I still see it as a technological advancement already integrated into our daily lives. I think of chatgpt as another google or safari. However, I have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of critical thinking when using AI tools, as their responses may not always be accurate or reliable. Just like you cant believe everything you find on the internet, you cany believe everything ChatGPT says. To address potential risks or challenges regarding AI chatbots with students, I would emphasize the need to corroborate information obtained from these tools with other reliable sources as you would with any other information.
AI tools have the potential to significantly enhance productivity in education. I truly believe that using AI tools can save time, automate routine tasks, and even provide valuable insights to improve efficiency. In my teaching job, I would utilize AI tools to enhance productivity in several ways. For example, AI-powered grading systems can speed up the grading process which with the saved time I can provide better feedback or use it on other tasks. Also, AI-driven analytics can help me track student progress, identify areas for improvement, and tailor instructional strategies to meet their individual learning needs. Furthermore, AI-based content creation tools can assist in making educational materials, like presentations which saves time and effort in lesson planning. There is a ChatGPT for powerpoint presentation called SlidesGPT. But, like I said before everything has to be monitored and revised, AI is not always accurate or reliable but they can sure speed up productivity and efficiency in our lives by giving different perspectives and idea outlines.
